Late use of Russian special issues

Beitragvon TALLTREES » 5. Sep 2014, 10:58

Hello. I would like to show this interesting Cover which shows late use of one of the 1931 "Russian Polar flight special issues". Sent from Russia and addressed to the "USA", franked with Russian Polar flight imperforated border " 2 R Blue " special issue, and cancelled on the " 10.8.38 " :o

Dear TALLTREES,

the main reason not use the russian special stamps with zeppelin images in 30th years and later: it is the more higher market value of not used stamps than nominal value of the stamps (exceptions were the postage stamps of issue 1931 and 1934, except for some nominals ). 8-)
They were mostly used only for special philatelic correspondence.
Here are some examples that I know and from my collection:
1) 2.SAF 1934 letter with Mi.#405 B blue 2R zeppelin Polarfahrt 1931 stamp canceled am July 4th, 1934;
2)12.SAF 1934 (Weihnachten Fahrt) letter with Mi.#405 B blue 2R zeppelin Polarfahrt 1931 stamp canceled am December 5th, 1934 (it's known me);
3) Registered letter with Mi.#391 A red 80K zeppelin Russlandfahrt 1930 stamp canceled am January 23th, 1937. :D

Regards,
pasol.

Hello pasol. What a superb collection you have shown you must be so proud to own them :D . Continuing with this Cover not sent by Zeppelin but sent by normal mail with one of the 1931 Russian special issues ( 50 K.), i know for sure that this is not a "FAKE" :), as i have seen other mail sent by this sender "TECHNOPROMIMPORT". While on this thread with 1931 Russian special issues (10K, 15K, 20K, 50K, 1R,), i have found a great variation with the 15 k. (Grey/Blue colour) :o , i enclose pictures showing the great variation in colour & text, do you have an explanation :? (Or is one a forgery :( )

Dear TALLTREES,

they are two different stamps (from different issues):
1) the blue-gray stamp from issue 1931 (lithographic printing/Steindruck) with watermark "carpet/Greek Border and Rosettes" (Sieger Rus.#4.; Mi.# SU 398);
2) the gray stamp from issue 1932 (metallography/Stichtiefdruck) without watermark (Sieger Rus.#8; Mi.# SU 406).

Please see for compare: two stamps 1931 and 1932 in imperforate variant (rare type) from my collection. :D

Best regards,
pasol.

Dear TALLTREES,

I would say my opinion: a perforated 50K stamp from issue 1931 (Si.#6AFa.) in wrong blue-black colour ("aspidka") has now a market price about 500,00-700,00 EUR (NH,OG)...Michel is right :!: :shock:

About issue 1932. These stamps from 1932 issue with perforation 10 1/2 (Si.#8C.) and imperforated (Si.#8U.)in unused quality (isn't hinged) are much more expensive than Michel's price (in several times :!: ) . ;)
The other stamps from this issue 1932 Si.#8A. & 8B. are usual and on letters too.

In issue 1931 only two another imperforated stamps 50K in blue-black and violet colours are expensive.

Especially, a stamp 50K in wrong blue-black (not violet!) colour ("aspidka") in imperforated variant, it's not listed in the catalogs (market price is about 50'000.00 EUR :!: ).
I think, it is the most expensive in the world single stamp with zeppelin image (only few items known).
It is a "Blue Mauritius" among zeppelin thematic.
8-)

For comparison:
1)a usual stamp 50K from 1931 issue (imperforated) in dark brown colour (Si.#6U), price 50,00 EUR;
2)a stamp 50K from 1931 issue in wrong violet colour (Si.#6UFc), price about 5'000,00 EUR, only 24 pieces are known :!: ;
3)a stamp 50K from 1931 in wrong blue-black colour ("aspidka") in imperforated variant, price about 50'000,00 EUR :!: , only few items known.

Sincerely yours,
pasol.
