ZRIII vignetten

Beitragvon robbrum » 19. Apr 2009, 20:27

Who has more detailed information about these Vignets, what I can find on the internet was this; The Zeppelin in the background and the Santa Maria in the foreground. Also that Colombus took 8 weeks and the Zeppelin only 70 hours. The design was by Paul Landgraf.

Who has more information. :!:

The Zeppelin Stamps by Donald Lehmkuhl comes into my mind, but you said it already, these are vignets and no stamps.
Decads back, Kuno Sollors wrote a book on zeppelin vignets, but I can not find this book in my library (I know that I have it... :oops: ). Perhaps another member can look it up and double check if this source has some more information
Thx....

Hello Robbrum!
I still have found something for the topic.
Solving man and Werner Rau are from Manfred from a book.
This is from the year 1998 and the prices are also a little newer there.
Say hello!

Dear friends,

I like Zeppelin vignettes (poster stamps) especially this LZ 126 (ZR III) issue 1924 from Paul Landgraf. :D
in addition to information from the Kuno Sollors's Catalog, "Nichtpostalische Flugmarken.Teil 7. Zeppelin, Parseval und andere Luftschiffe" , 1973 , I would want to show some such items from my collection. 8-)

There are 6 imperforated LZ 126 (ZR III) 1924 vignettes by Paul Landgraf.

Best regards,
pasol.

...continuation...

Proof of No.428 3 Pf. was printed in the other (black) instead carmin colour.

I know that our collegue @lebenslauf have some items to show ... ;)

Some interesting information from Dr.Artur Knoth:
1) the flight of ZR III was to begin on the 12th of October 1924 from Seville, which, according to the Spanish Ambassador, was a similarity to the voyage of Columbus, while it was the same day in 1492 that America was discovered. So there are the "Santa Maria" in the foreground and the Zeppelin in the background on vignettes;
2) These ZR III vignettes were not approved due to lack of time;
3) Design of these ZR III vignettes were discussing how the pattern for the semi-private Condor-Zeppelin Brazilian stamps for the 1930 Pan Am flight, but it was not adopted.

Hello pasol. I too own a set of these "ZRIII Vignettens" but my set are of the perforated variety with the standard 3Pf Carmin issue. Do you know if the Black Proof 3Pf issue was the only Proof issue?, and also were there any more Proof issues from this set (1Pf, 2Pf, 5Pf, 10Pf, 20Pf) in different colours to that of the standard issued set.
