Zeppelin's FDC and so on

Zeppelin's FDC and so on

Beitragvon pasol » 22. Dez 2010, 21:41

Hello everybody,
I would open new topic, I hope that it will be interesting for any collectors. There are Zeppelin's (and other airships) stamps of many countries which used in Zeppelin's flights. In this topic I suggest to show real FDC's cover of Zeppelin's flights and first cases using (near issue date) any Zeppelin stamps during real Zeppelin's flights (Zeppelin's stamps + Zeppelin's post).
First example: real FDC - Russian full Zeppelin's set 1934 (Mi.#483-487) on 11.SAF 1934 card from Russia to Brazil. Important: three days before an official issue date of stamps (17.10.1934 instead 20.10.1934). See remark in Sieger on p.471.
Best regards,

Hello pasol. Here are two FDC examples from you specialist subject 1930 "RUSSIA FLIGHT" (Moscow - Friedrichshafen). I have read that letters and Postcards for dispatch by this flight were accepted only at Moscow GPO and only a few hours before take off and it was not permitted to affix both stamps to a single item of mail.
Thanks again

The Michel catalogue says that the first day of the Hungarian zeppelin stamps from 1931 is 27 March 1931. Attached is a cover from Budapest postmarked 24 March 1931, this is three days before Michel's first day and five days before Sieger's first day. Perhaps this problem should get its own thread?!?

Nice piece, so now we are looking for a zeppelin cover with the 2 and/or 4 RM zeppelin stamp and which was flown by LZ-127 on the 20.9.1928 southwest Germany flight (Michel number 2, Sieger number 021.II) - that would be a spectacular FDC. I am not aware of such a cover.
