"GREEK REGISTERED NUMBERS"

Beitragvon TALLTREES » 17. Mär 2010, 09:51

Hello again. Some time ago i showed a Greek registered cover on a different thread and i had not noticed that it had a very high "REGISTERED NUMBER", after reading the thread in the ZPJ Vol. 2 No.2, Summer 2008 (page 22) by Fiorenzo Longhi he states that "What is the highest registration number? Number 7971 was used on May 27 at 7pm on a cover flown on the 2nd South America Flight. Well the Cover that i listed had a registration number of " 7975" (4 numbers higher) and was also flown on the 2nd S.A.F to RIO DE JANERO on the "29. V. 33. 13" ( 2 Days later ) also on the front of the Cover next to the registration label there is circled ( 7975 ou 75- ) ? what was this put on for and by who ?. So can any member show or find an "ATHENES" registration number higher than 7975 ?
i enclose picture.
Thanks again

The highest recorded Greek registration number on the ROME FLIGHT is 7955.
The next recorded higher Greek registration number is 7971, and this is a Zervas dispatch flown on the 2nd South America Flight 1933

So somwhere between 7955 and 7971 is the border between ROME FLIGHT and 2ND SOUTH AMERICA FLIGHT ---- but where???

So we are looking for numbers between 7955 and 7971

As per your cover, it seems that a post office could not read the registration number on your cover because someone stamped the red connecting flight cachet over the registration label. So the post officer noten on the cover 7975 ou 75---- which means 7975 or 75, he simply could not read the number.

Hello again. I have found another Greek late Registration Number in my collection (7917) this time it was flown on the "ROME FLIGHT" from "ATHENS" (27.V.33 - 7) to "ROME" (29.V 33 X - 17-18) then to "FRIEDRICHSHAFEN" (30.5.33 - 14) and the final leg of the flight by surface/air ? was to "BRAVENHAGE" (HOLLAND) (31.V. 7).
Thanks again
