"LIECHTENSTEIN TREATY MAIL"

Beitragvon TALLTREES » 1. Mai 2011, 13:34

Hello again. Here is another unexplained matter on this flight (Polarfahrt). From my collection i have a Cover addressed to the Dealer/collector "Alexander Berezowski" cancelled "VADUZ" 14.V11.31- 1X, then sent by surface/air ? to Friedrichshafen in time for the "POLAR FLIGHT" with the correct Friedrichshafen dispatch cancel "24.7.31. 7-8", then the next stage of the flight was "BERLIN-STAAKEN" arriving "24.07.31" @ 18.02, now this is the problem with this Cover i am showing. This Cover arrived in "BERLIN STAAKEN" on 24.7.31 @ 18.02 from Friedrichshafen but why has it received the "BERLIN-STAAKEN" arrival stamp with the date of " 25.7.31.4-5V " which is the cancel for the "DEPARTURE FLIGHT" (Berlin - Leningrad) (FLIGHT 203). I have seen other Covers with this incorrect Berlin arrival cancel and they were all sent from Liechtenstein by Alexander Berezowski and up to now there has been no explanation for this :?:

Hello again. Here is another Liechtenstein Cover again addressed to Alexander Berezowski with the correct Berlin arrival stamp " 24.7.31. 6-7 " flight 202 (FRIEDRICHSHAFEN - BERLIN - STAAKEN), so this confirms that the mail arrived from Friedrichshafen to Berlin Staaken on the 24.7.31. So this confirms that the Berlin arrival stamp date on my previous Liechtenstein Cover (25.7.31 4-5V) was indeed the departure flight (Flight 203).

Zeppelin wrote:
To summarize the Berlin arrival postmarks on the 1931 Polar Flight:
25.7.31 - by zeppelin to Berlin, flight 202
27.7.31 - by zeppelin to Leningrad (flight 203 with Leningrad arrival) and then by airmail back to Berlin
30.7.31 - by zeppelin to Berlin, flight 205
26./27./28.8.31 - by zeppelin to the Malyguin (flight 204, with Malyguin arrival), by surface/airmail via Russsia to Berlin

So the above summary is incorect ( 25.7.31 - by Zeppelin to Berlin, Flight 202)

Hello TALLTREES,
I give my opinion on your question. I think the difference has place due to the different periods of processing of mail arrived in Berlin with this LZ-127 flight. Part of the correspondence was handled in the evening 24.07.1931. However, part of the correspondence was handled only in the morning 25.07.1931 together with outgoing correspondence for further LZ-127 flight.
Best regards,
pasol.

Hello pasol. Thank you for your views on this subject. I enclose pictures of Two more Berezowski Polar Flight Liechtenstein Covers both with the "BERLIN STAAKEN" Arrival Cancel "25.7.31 4-5 V". I have noticed that the Cover that i have shown with the 1930 Air set and the Cover in the Black & White picture with the 1930 Air set have very similar franking arrangement
